Frequently Asked Questions – and Answers!
Here you will find the answers to most questions, big and small.

Arrival & Departure

Where does the event take place?

The address is:
Stramehl 19
17326 Brüssow
You are generally responsible for your own arrival and departure

What’s the best way to get here by bus and train?

The RE3 takes 1:25h from Berlin Gesundbrunnen to Prenzlau, the nearest train station, which is about 20 km away from Stramehl. Unfortunately we cannot offer a shuttle service. Between Berlin and Prenzlau (no longer Pasewalk!) you can also use the ICE with the Deutschlandticket. (Read more at bahn.de)
There are buses from Prenzlau to the Stramehl bus stop near the party at the following times:
Thursday: 8:15, 11:15, 12:10, 13:20, 14:25, 15:15
Friday: 7:05, 8:15, 11:15, 12:10, 13:20, 14:25, 15: 15
The last bus on Thursday and Friday is a shared cab at 18:15 (at the bus fare, included in the VBB and Deutschlandticket, but with a surcharge of €1 per person in cash), which must be booked and only runs on demand. Call 03332-442755 between 8:00 and 24:00, but at least 60 minutes before departure. There are no buses at weekends, only the shared cab.
This information is without guarantee, so we strongly recommend that you find out more before you arrive: www.bahn.de

What’s the best way to arrive by bicycle?

Arriving by bike is beautiful and highly recommended. From Berlin expect a route of about 140 km. You can shorten the trip by train—aboard the regional train to Prenzlau, leaving only 20 km on the new bike path.

Can I come by car or camper—and where can I park?

Stramehl is well connected via the A20; you can park in front of the house. You may drive onto the camping field with a car or van—but please only if you intend to sleep in it! Otherwise there is parking infront of the house.

Can I use or offer ride shares?

In this PAD https://pad.systemli.org/p/solimitfahrt-keep, you can autonomously organize carpooling <3

Is there a barrier-reduced way to get to the festival?

Unfortunately, we were not granted funding by the EU, which is why we are unable to finance a shuttle service.

Orientation & Grounds

How should I behave on the festival grounds?

The festival takes place in an area with many beds and natural features. Please treat the grounds and installations with respect and care. We will provide plenty of trash cans and ashtrays—please use them and don’t leave cigarette butts or beer mats lying around. Also, please leave confetti and non-biodegradable glitter at home.
Thank you in advance!

What barriers exist on the festival grounds and how are they addressed?

Our goal is to make the festival as accessible as possible, but we are aware of limitations due to the terrain and our budget.
Known barriers include:

  • No tactile or visual wayfinding systems
  • Little information in plain language
  • Some missing translations
  • all the paths are uneven and unpaved
  • Loud and flashing areas
  • No sign language interpreters—unless someone volunteers
  • There are no barrier-free toilets

Every person has different needs—some easy to meet, others requiring more planning. We want everyone to feel welcome. If you have specific needs or questions about accessibility, please email info@kulturkraftwerk-ev.de. Our inclusion team will communicate honestly about what we can—and cannot (yet)—provide. If you require assistance or an accompanying person, your companion enters free of charge (no ticket needed). Please note how many companions you need when purchasing your ticket to help us plan resources accurately.

What if I lose something on the grounds?

Lost and found is centralized at the bar. Drop by if you’ve lost or found something—our volunteers will be happy to help. Maybe your lost treasure is waiting for you!

Are there swimming opportunities?

There is a lake 1.7 km away. A group trip is planned, but you may also go on your own. Important for non-swimmers: the shore drops off steeply, and there is no lifeguard—swim at your own risk.

Accommodation & Infrastructure

Where is the best place to camp—and what should I keep in mind?

We have a large, shaded meadow for tents. We cannot offer indoor sleeping spots. Part of the meadow is left natural as a bird sanctuary, so please keep noise to a minimum in the camping area. You may drive onto the camping field only if you intend to sleep in your vehicle; otherwise, park in front of the house.

What about toilets, washing facilities, etc.?

Showers:
While you are at the festival, you are welcome to try out our self-built showers! Unfortunately the water is cold, but you’ll still have a great shower experience! If it’s too cold for you to shower, it’s still no problem, there’s a beautiful swimming lake within walking distance of Stramehl.
As our showers are outside, please remember to take degradable soap/shower gel with you!

Toilets:
There are beautiful compost-separated toilets. Maybe not a 5 star hotel but can keep up with any festival standard. There are stations for washing hands and dishes.

What happens in severe weather?

We’ve ordered perfect festival weather and won’t let a few raindrops stop us—but in the event of a severe thunderstorm, we will pause the program and may, as a last resort, cancel the festival. (but the weather looks great!)

Food & Drink

What delicious food will be available?

Food is provided throughout the festival and covered by your ticket. Enjoy delicious “Küfa” (community kitchen) vegan meals. Breakfast in the morning, a warm meal at midday, and grab-and-go options in the evening. Please inform us of any allergies or intolerances when buying your ticket (tickets@kulturkraftwerk-ev.de) and we’ll do our best to accommodate. If you’d like to help cook, join our “Schnibbeldisko” (chopping disco)!

What drinks are available – and can I bring my own?

Our bar is the perfect spot to refill your cup, grab a cold drink, and enjoy the vibes.
Typical opening hours: 4 pm–2 am (varies by day). Outside those times, refreshments are available in the kitchen. We offer beer, cocktails, soft drinks, and free drinking water at water stations. Payment by cash, PayPal, or our analogue value cards (Verzehrkarten) available on site. You’re also welcome to bring your favorite drink if you like.
Want to support the festival? Write to helfi@kulturkraftwerk-ev.de to take a bar shift in exchange for drinks!

Is there power to charge devices—and is there cell reception?

Mobile reception in rural Germany can be spotty. Expect little to no signal. Our personal recommendation: leave your phone in your tent and enjoy being offline!
There are very few power outlets—bring a fully charged power bank, and consider bringing a labeled extension cord if you really need to plug in.

Can I cook for myself—and what should I consider?

If you’d like to prepare a snack beyond our catering, you may use the mowed grass area in the camping zone for camping stoves. Please handle your stove safely and minimize unnecessary waste.

Festival Program & Culture

What kind of program can I expect?

We have wonderful artists who will entertain you with live music and DJ sets. There will also be various workshops. You can find the exact schedule in our program.

Is there a festival theme?

Yes, this year our festival’s motto is “Mad Hat.” So feel free to bring your favorite headwear.

Who is behind the festival?

KulturKraftwerk e.V.
The Stramehl Festival is organized by KulturKraftwerk e.V., which was founded in 2024 for this purpose. We currently have around 15 active members. The purpose of our association is to promote art and culture in rural and less developed regions. The Stramehl Festival is always at the forefront of our activities. You can find our association’s statutes here.

Organization & Participation

What is the ticket concept and how is the festival financed?

We want to keep the festival as accessible as possible and cover our costs – that’s why we have a solidarity-based pricing model. You decide how much money you want to spend. We are also supported by Fonds Soziokultur.

What should be on my packing list?

We have prepared a packing list so that you don’t accidentally forget anything important.

Can I bring friends?

Yes!

What is the U25 Social Fund?

You may have noticed the logo—we applied for funding earlier this year and are supported by the U25 Social Fund. This allows us to pay fair fees and critical infrastructure costs, halving the ticket price—making the festival accessible and possible in this form. Thank you!

Awareness & Community

What is the awareness concept?

To make sure everyone has a good time, we of course have an awareness concept in place.
The basic requirement is mutual respect and looking out for one another. Always ask for consent and remember: only “yes” means yes.
If you ever feel uncomfortable or experience discrimination, we have an on-site Awareness Team you can always approach. The team wears pink vests and will be present around the site for you.
Please also read our Code of Conduct — by entering the festival grounds, you agree to it. There you will also find our house rules. We reserve the right to remove anyone from the site who does not follow them.

How do you handle nudity and topless attire?

To ensure that everyone feels comfortable here, we have decided to ask cis men in particular not to walk around bare-chested.

Please bear in mind that even if you don’t mind other people seeing you naked or scantily clad, there are people who do not want or are unable to do so, as FLINTA* breasts are still stigmatized by society.

Can I bring my four-legged friends?

Loud music and large crowds are not a relaxing environment for dogs and pets. Some people are also not very comfortable around animals and may be afraid.
Therefore, we kindly request that you leave your four-legged friends at home.

Are children and youth allowed?

Are you under 18 and want to come to the festival? We don’t have childcare or a program for teenagers. If you come with a parent or guardian, you’re welcome to party with us.

I live in Stramehl and would like to drop by—can I?

Of course, we are delighted when people who live in the area come to the festival. There will also be a box office at the bar for evening tickets. Come on by!

Can I take photos / will photos be taken?

Of course, you are welcome to take photos of your experiences for private use – but please be considerate of others.

We will have two people walking around with cameras to capture the atmosphere and the acts.
If you do not want to appear in photos, that is absolutely fine – just let us know when you buy your ticket on site.
Feel free to leave your cell phones in your tents – keep your memories in your heart, not on a chip.
The official photos will be provided by us after the festival. Please treat these pictures with respect as well.
If you want to get in the mood or reminisce, you can also find a small selection of the best photos from previous years here on the website.

Are there smoking areas—and what should I know when smoking?

Smoking is permitted, but please be considerate.
Ask groups before you smoke, especially during meals.
Not everyone wants to inhale smoke.
Smoking is prohibited in the forest and animal sanctuary areas.
Animals live there and there is a fire hazard.
Ashtrays are available in many places.
Please use them.
Thank you for looking out for each other and the grounds.

Festival consensus / house rules

We have a code of conduct, please read it!

Safety & Health

What happens in medical emergencies?

Qualified paramedics are on site to take care of you in case of an emergency.
You can recognize them by their yellow vests.
If you need help yourself or see someone who needs assistance, please contact the organizing team immediately—they will take you directly to the paramedics or get help.

Where can I dispose of my trash?

Please avoid producing unnecessary waste; since food is provided, trash should remain manageable. Trash cans and ashtrays are provided—please use them and respect the natural surroundings.
